　　x05TheLancang-MekongRiverisanimportantinternationalriverinSoutheastAsia,whichflowsthroughsixcountries.TheLancangRiverisrichinnaturalresourcesandwildlife.ThelargestpartofthebasinisanaturalconservationareaforrareandendangeredanimalsandplantsinChina.Thebasinareaisstillanunderdevelopedregionatpresent.However,duetodeforestation(滥伐森林)andpollutionfromindustrial,agriculturalanddomesticsectors,thewaterqualityoftheriverhasbeendeteriorating(恶化)inrecentyears.Inthispaper,theauthoranalyzedthepresentwaterqualitystatusoftheLancangRiverbothonthemainstreamanditstributaries(支流)basedonthedataof1990～1997.Theresultshaveshownthatthewaterqualitystatusoftheriverisnotgoodenoughalthoughtherearefewindustrialestatesintheregion.Thepollutantsintheriveraremainlyorganic(有机的)materials.Themainpollutionsourcesarewastewaterfrompaperplants,sugarplants,domesticwastewaterfromDaliCityandJinghongCity,aswellas,fertilizersandchemicalsfromagriculturalfields.HeavymetalsfromtheLanpingLeadandZincMineandtheLancangLeadMinearethemainpollutantsinthetributariesoftheBijiangRiverandtheNanlaRiver.Waterqualityofthemainstreamisbetterthanitstributaries；itbetterinthedryseasonthaninthewetseason.
