　　DocumentingtheThangmilanguageandcultureisjustastartingpointforTurin,whoseekstoincludeotherlanguagesandoraltraditionsacrosstheHimalayanreachesofIndia,Nepal,Bhutan,andChina.Butheisnotcontenttosimplyrecordthesevoicesbeforetheydisappearwithoutrecord.

　　AttheUniversityofCambridgeTurindiscoveredawealthofimportantmaterials-includingphotographs,films,taperecordings,andfieldnotes—whichhadremainedunstudiedandwerebadlyinneedofcareandprotection.

　　Now,throughthetwoorganizationsthathehasfounded–theDigitalHimalayaProjectandtheWorldOralLiteratureProject__Turinhasstartedacampaigntomakesuchdocuments,fortheworldavailablenotjusttoscholarsbuttotheyoungergenerationsofcommunitiesfromwhomthematerialswereoriginallycollected.ThankstodigitaltechnologyandthewidelyavailableInternet,Turinnotes,theendangeredlanguagescanbesavedandreconnectedwithspeechcommunities.
