Inanotherrecentsightingagroupofsoldiersclaimtheysawananimalmovingonthesurfaceofthewater.Thesoldierswhowerewalkingalongthesideofthelakewatchedthecreatureswimmingforabouttwominutes."Itwasgreenish-blackandhadaroundheadwith10-centimetrehorns"oneofthesoldierssaid.
AthirdreportcamefromLiXiaohewhowasvisitingthelakewithhisfamily.Heclaimstohaveseenaroundblackcreaturemovingquicklythroughthewater.Afterthreeorfourhundredmetresitdivedintothewater.Tenminuteslaterthemonsterappearedagainandrepeatedtheaction.MrLiXiaohesaidthatheandhisfamilywereabletoseethemonsterclearlybecausetheweatherwasfineandthelakewascalm.
TherehavebeenreportsofmonstersinLakeTianchisincethebeginningofthelastcenturyalthoughnoonehasseenonecloseup.Somephotoshavebeentakenbuttheyarenotclearbecauseitwastoofaraway.ManypeoplethinkthemonstermaybeadistantcousinoftheLochNessmonsterinScotland.Theyalsothinkthattheremightbesimilarcreaturesinotherlakesaroundtheworld.Scientistshoweveraresceptical.Theysaythatthelow-temperaturelakeisunlikelytobeabletosupportsuchlargelivingcreatures.
LakeTianchiisthehighestvolcaniclakeintheworld.Itis2189metreshighandcoversanareaofabouttensquarekilometres.Inplacesitismorethan370metresdeep.
