　　大力神和车夫

　　HerculesandtheWagoner

　　Acarterwasdrivingawagonalongacountrylane,whenthewheelssankdowndeepintoarut.Therusticdriver,stupefiedandaghast,stoodlookingatthewagon,anddidnothingbututterloudcriestoHerculestocomeandhelphim.Hercules,itissaid,appearedandthusaddressedhim:"Putyourshoulderstothewheels,myman.Goadonyourbullocks,andnevermorepraytomeforhelp,untilyouhavedoneyourbesttohelpyourself,ordependuponityouwillhenceforthprayinvain."

　　一名车夫赶着货车沿着乡间小路行进.途中车轮陷入了很深的车辙中,再也无法前进.这时,愚蠢的车夫吓得茫然失措,一筹莫展,痴呆呆地站在那里,凝视着货车,不断地高声喊叫,求大力神来助他一把.大力神来到后,对他说:“朋友,用你的肩膀扛起车轮,再抽打拉车的马.你自己不自力更生,尽力解决,仅靠祈求我,怎么行呢?”

　　寓言告诉我们:

　　自力更生,自助自立是克服困难的最好办法.

　　渔夫们拉网时,觉得很沉重,他们高兴得手舞足蹈,以为这一下子捕到了许多的鱼.

　　哪知把网拉到岸边,网里却满是石头和别的东西,没有一条鱼.哪知

　　他们十分懊丧,没捕到鱼倒也罢,难受的是事实与他们所预想的正好相反.

　　他们中一个年老的渔夫说道:“朋友们,别难过,快乐总与痛苦在一起,她们如同一对姐妹.我们预先快乐过了,现在不得不忍受到一点点痛苦.”Oneofthemelderlyfishermansaid:"friends,notsadness,joyandpaintogethertotal,theylikeasister.Advancehappywehave,andnowhadtoendurethepainalittlebit."

　　这故事是说,人生变化万千,正如有时晴朗的天空会突然发生风暴,不要因挫折而苦恼.
