　　BasketballwasinventedbyaCanadiandoctornamedJamesNaismith,whowasbornin1861.Whenhewasatcollege,histeacheraskedtheclasstothinkofagamethatcanbeplayedinthewinter.Dr.Naismithcreatedagametobeplayedinsideonahardfloor.Dr.Naismithdividedthemeninhisclassintotwoteamsandtaughtthemtoplayhisnewgame.Thepurposeofthegameisforplayerstogetaballintothe“basket”.Playersonthesameteammustworktogethertohelpeachothergettheballintheotherteam’sbasket.Atthesametime,theyneedtostopthecompetingteamfromgettingtheballintotheirownbasket.

　　ItisbelievedthatonDecember21,1891,thefirstbasketballgameinhistorywasplayed.Thenin1936inBerlin,itbecameaneventattheOlympics.Today,thepopularityofbasketballhasrisenaroundtheworld,withmanyyoungpeopledreamingofbecomingfamousplayers.Basketballhasnotonlybecomeapopularsporttoplay,ithasalsobecomeamorepopularsporttowatch.AlthoughAmerica’sNBAgamesarethemostfamous,theCBAgamesarebecomingpopularinChina.Thenumberofforeignplayers,includingChineseplayers,intheNBAhasincreased.AndtherearealsomoreandmoreforeignplayersintheCBA.Manyyoungpeoplelookuptothesebasketballheroesandwanttobecomelikethem.Thesestarsencourageyoungpeopletoworkhardtoachievetheirdreams.
