  Inrecentyears,traditionalteachingmethods,whichregardteachersasthecoreofteachingactions,hasgraduallybecomeunpopular.Educationalistsandforeignlanguageeducatorsbegintowidelysponsormanynewkindsofconceptsandideasofteaching.Andtheseconceptsandideaspaymoreattentiontolearners,forinstance,autonomouslearning,independentlearning,learnerawareness,problem-basedlearning,inwhichautonomouslearningisthemostimportantone.Autonomouslearninghasbeenabuzzwordinforeignlanguageteachingintherecenttwentyyears.Manycountriesandareashaveestablishedprofessionalinstitutionstostudyautonomousforeignlanguagelearning,suchasAILA(AssociationInternationaledeLinguistiqueappliquee),ASALD(HongKongAssociationSelf-accessLearningandDevelopment),ATEFL(InternationalAssociationofTeachersofEnglishasaForeignlanguage)andsoon.ButthekeystoneofthiseducationalconceptwasnotintroducedtoChinauntilrecentyears.
