Fourdistinct,preferredstylesofcorporateleadershipemerged:Facilitatorsarehands-off,workingwithandthroughachiefexecutive.Theyhavewarmandopenpersonalrelationshipswithallboardmembers.Theirstyleistrusting,supportive,sensitive,awareandpurposeful.Thereisabalancebetweenheadandheart,betweendeliberatelystandingbacktoseethewiderperspectiveandinvolvementwithpeople,issuesandvision.Thisstylewasthemostpopular,favouredby32percentofrespondents.
Thinkers:workthroughachiefexecutivebuthavenodoubtabouttheirownpowerandarelikelytogettheirownwayonthebigissues.Theycanbeaformidablecombinationwithachiefexecutive,providedbothagreeonfundamentals.Althoughtheyaretrusted,relationshipswillbemoredistantandbasedonrespect,witharecognitionof
