other,another,others,anyother,theother的用法

　　1）other表示泛指,意为“另外的、其它的”.常与复数名词或不可数名词连用.如果其前有the,this,some,any,each,every,no,one以及形容词性物主代词时,其后就可接单数名词.

　　eg.Ihavenootherplacetogo.

　　2）another常用于指三者或三者以上中的“另外一个”,泛指单数.可单独使用,也可后接名词.如果其后接复数名词,则表示“又、再、还”.

　　eg.

　　Thiscapistoosmallforme.Showmeanother（one）.

　　Weneedanotherthreeassistantsinourshop.

　　3）others：它是other的复数形式,表示泛指,意为“别的人或物”,但不指全部.特指时在其前加定冠词；前面可加任何限定词以及数量词.

　　eg.Hehasmoreconcernforothersthanforhimself.

　　4）anyother表示一个之外的其他任何一个,而不是两个之中的另一个.

　　eg.ChinaislargerthananyothercountryinAsia.

　　5）theother：表示两者中的另外一个.可单独使用,也可接单数名词.

　　eg.Noagreementwasreachedinthediscussionasneithersidewouldgivewaytotheother.

　　other、another、theother,others和theothers

　　other意思是“其他的、别的、另外的”,可以做形容词用,在句子中作定语.

　　在一般情况下,other常常修饰复数可数名词,如果修饰单数名词,就要用another或theother.只有在其他词辅助下,other才能修饰单数可数名词,如：

　　(1)Idon’tknowifotherstudentswillbeinterestedinthisstory.

　　(2)I’llcomesomeotherday.(我改日来)

　　Herryistallerthananyothermemberinhisfamily.

　　another意思是“另一个”.既可以用作形容词,在句子作定语.又可代名词,代替单数名词.例如：

　　(1)Theboyhasfinishedhisapple.Pleasegivehimanother(one).

　　(2)Icanseeanothershipinthepicture.

　　theother意思是“另一个”.常与one搭配构成“one…theother…”句型.

　　(1)Ihavetwosisters.Oneisadoctor.theotheriscollegestudent.

　　(2)Hehadabookinonehand,andaballintheother.

　　others意思是“其他的人或物,”作代词用泛指“另外的人或物”.

　　常与some搭配构成“some…others…”句型.例如：

　　(1)Somestudentslikepainting,otherlikemusic.

　　(2)Thisistoolarge.Showmesomeothers,please.

　　(3)Don’tlendittoothers.

　　theothers意思是表示特指某范围内的“其他的人或物”.如：

　　(1)Afewofthoseinwhitearedoctors,theothersarenurses.

　　(2)Wegothomeby5o’clock,buttheothersdidn’tgetbackuntil7o’clock.

　　注意：

　　在用这些不定代词时,another和theother,others和theothers之间的关系不能混淆.

　　another一般是指余下的人或物中的任何一个.而theother是指两个人或物中余下的那个.others指除去某些人或物后余下的另外一些人或物,而theothers指除去某些人或物后余下的所有其他一些人或物.另外,这些不定代词还与其他一些词有搭配关系,如anyother(任何其他的),everyother(每隔),theotherday(几天前),theothernight(不久前的某晚),some…others(一些……另一些),some…theothers(一些……其余的),eachother(oneanother互相)oneorother(或者这个,或者那个),someorother(某一)等.
