　　Whatcanbedonetosaveenergyinourdailyactivities?ItisestimatedthatthemaximumelectricityconsumptioninBeijingwillreach9.5millionkilowattsatpeaktimesthissummer,anincreaseof1.2millionkilowattsor15percentfrom2003.Electricityconsumptionposesaseverestrainonpowersupply.Forexample,theoutputcapacityofallair-conditionersinthecitytotals3.6millionkilowatts,whichwillconsume3.8millionkilowattsofelectricity,or40percentofthecity’stotalpowersupplyatpeaktimes.Sinceair-conditioningconsistsaprominentpartofelectricityconsumptioninsummer,ithasgreatpotentialforenergysaving.Scientificresearchfoundtheproperrangeofroomtemperatureforhumanbodyisbetween24～28degreesinsummerand18～22degreesinwinteronCelsiusscale.However,mostpublicplacesinBeijingnowsetthetemperatureofair-conditionedroomsataround22degreesonCelsiusscaleinsummer.Studyshowsifthetemperatureofair-conditionedroomweresetonedegreehigher,theelectricityconsumptionwouldbereducedby10percent.Asaresult,Beijingwouldbeabletosave250millionto320millionkwhofelectricityinsummer.
