　　drama,theleaderof“Elizabethdrama”,andthelinkerofthethreefamous“University

　　Wits”.Shakespeare'stalentandcontributionstodramawasunsurpassable,later

　　playwrightscanonlyliveinhisshadow.EvenSheridan,whowasrecognizedthe

　　mostdistinguisheddramatistinthe18thcenturywasnoexception.Hewasgoodat
