　　Nanning,withaglorioustradition,isrememberedasaheroiccityinthemindsofChinesepeople.Forthousandsofyears,thecityhasundergonecountlesstestsinbattle.Intheolddays,SuJian,headofficerofthisregioninsongDynasty,onceledthearmyandpeoplethroughoutYongzhouCitytoresisttheVietnameseaggressors,whowerewagingwaragainstChina.Inmoderntimes,thefamousgeneralsLiuYongfuandFengZicaibravelysafeguardedtheregionagainstFrenchaggressorsinabidtodefendtheirhomeland.Moreover,thecityhasalsowitnessedgloriousdeedsbylocalsasfollowing:the1911Revolution,theMay4thMovementin1919,dispatchingtroopstoaidtheNorthernExpeditionaryArmies,thefoundingoftheSeventhandEighthArmiesoftheChineseWorkers'andPeasants'RedArmy,theBaiseUprisingpavingthewayforestablishingtheZuojiangandYoujiangrevolutionarybases,theLongzhouUprisingandthebloodyKunlunguanCampaignwhichgaveaheavyblowtotheJapaneseaggressors.ThelocalpeoplehaveaddedanillustriouschaptertothehistoryofdefendingthehomelandandpursuingsocialprogressbysafeguardingtheSouthGateofthemotherlandandparticipatinginthesocialistconstructionofNewChina.
