　　TheTajMahalwasbuiltbytheMogulemperor(皇帝)ShahJehan,whoruledIndiaintheseventeenthcentury.Itisinmemoryofhisfavoritewife,ArjumandBanuBagam,knownasMumtazMahal,whodiedin1631.Thebuilding,whichwascompletedbetween1632and1638,wasdesignedbyalocalMuslimarchitect(建筑师),UstadAhmadLahori.Thewholebuilding,withgardensandgatewaystructures,wascompletedin1643.TheTajMahalstandsatoneendofthegardentombwithmarble(大理石)path.Theroomissoftlylightedbythelightthatpassesthroughdoublescreensofcarvedmarblesethighinthewalls.Thebuildingnowiskeptingoodcondition.
