Thesurvey,releasedbytheChinaYouthandChildrenResearchCenteronMonday,wasjointlyconductedwithinstructionsinthefourcountriesinSeptember-Octoberof2008.Itcoversnearly4,000studentsinseniorschoolsandvocationalhighschoolsinthefourcountries.About78.3percentofChinesestudentssaidtheyspendmorethaneighthoursatschooland56.7percentsaidtheystudyatleasttwomorehourseachdayathome.bycontrast,only24.7percentoftheirpeersintheUS,20.5percentinJapanand15.4inKoreastudymorethantwohoursafterschool.
Around60percentofallstudentssurveyedsaidtheirburdenforstudieswastheheaviest.HowevertheJapanesefelttheirburdenwastheworstwithrespondents(应答者)reaching79.2percent

“Moderate(适度的)studypressurecanbetterdrivestudentstodevelop,however,toomuchwillpresstheirdevelopmentspace,andcanevencauseharmtotheirphysicalandpsychologicalhealth”thesurveysaid
