　　AsagrowingnumberofChina'sruralpeoplewhogotoworkincities,thenumberofchildrenleftbehindinruralareasisalsoontherise.Thereareabout58millionleft-behindchildreninruralChinaandover40millionofthemareunder14yearsold,accordingtoareportconcerningthestatusoftheleft-behindchildrenreleasedbytheAll-ChinaWomen’sFederationearlythisFebruary.Insomerurallabor-exportingprovinces,left-behindchildreninthelocalshareofthetotalnumberofchildrenisupto18-22%.Areportfindsmorethanhalfofthechildrenwhoareleftbehinddon'tlivewitheitherparent.Thetelephoneisoftentheonlywaytheycancontactwiththeirmothersorfathers.Thereportindicatesthat8.7%left-behindchildrenhavenocontactwiththeirparentsatall.Thesurveyalsofinds49.7%ofleft-behindchildrenprefertolivewiththeirparents,and24.25%ofleft-behindchildrendonotspeakmuchwiththeircaregivers.

　　Anotherprobleminleft-behindchildrenisthattheirhealthfromphysicalandPsychological.Asurveyinawesternlabor-exportinginlargenumberprovinceshowsthat70%left-behindchildren’sparents’timesofgoingbackhomeislessthanthreetimesandsomeparentsevenreturnhomeonceinseveralyears.Sinceparents’longtimegoingout,left-behindchildren'semotionalneedcannotbemetandthepsychologicalproblemsarenotsolvedintime,whicheasilyresultintheformationoftheirpersonalitydistortionandphysicalhealthrisks,suchaspoorbehavior,psychologicalimbalance,actionoutofcontrolevencriminaltendency.Asurveyinsoutherncoastalprovinceshowsthat19.6%oftheleft-behindchildrenfeelinferiortoothersand11.4%felldiscriminatedagain.Asurveyinanorthernprovinceshowsthattheproportionofjuvenilecrimeintheleft-behindchildrenisashighas20%.
