The2008OlympicswillbeagreenOlympics.Addingagreeningredientisessentialincreatinganappealingimage,aswecan'tdenythefactthatBeijing,atthemoment,isnotasgreenacityaswhatwelikeittobe.StrivingforanenvironmentallyappealingcityhasbecomeacentraltaskforallthecitizensofBeijing.Bigeffortshavebeenmadeinpollutioncontrol,replantingandbeautificationofthecity.Accordingtoaprojectentitled"TheGreenOlympicActionPlan",between1998and2007,Beijing,wehaveinvested100billionRMBinpreservingandprotectingtheenvironment.Some12.5milliontreesandover1millionacresofgrasswillbeplantedalongtheFourthRingRoad.Bythen,thecity'sgreenareawillmakeup40%ofitstotal.ThecitywillalsodredgeitsreservoirsusedasawatersupplytoBeijingresidents,controllingindustrialpollutionandmovingoutthe200factoriespresentlylocatedwithinthecityproper.
