　　InChina,manytempleshousetreasuresandartifacts,butthesheerquantityandqualityoftreasuresintheFamenTempleisrare.SituatedinFamenTownofFufengCounty,about120kilometers(about74.57miles)westofXian,FamenTempleisrenownedforstoringtheveritablefoursliversofthefingerboneoftheSakyamuniBuddha.

　　FamenTemplewasestablishedintheEasternHanDynasty(25--220),forcarryingforwardBuddhism.ThemostrepresentativestructuresinthetemplearetheFamenTemplePagodaandFamenTempleMuseum.

　　Atthecenterofthetempleisthe13-tieredoctagonalpagodaunderwhichitissaid,asliverofthefingerboneofSakyamuniburied.In1981,subsidenceofthepagodaledtoreconstruction,duringwhich,anUndergroundPalacewasdiscoveredunexpectedlyin1987.Manyroyaltreasuresandjewellerywerefoundhere-morethan2,000piecessurroundedtheTangmandala(geometricdesigns,usuallycircular,symbolizingtheuniverse).ThemostpreciousarethefoursliversofveritablefingerboneoftheSakymuniBuddha.Atpresent,thisisthebiggestBuddhistundergroundpalacesofardiscovered.Fromthegrandarchitecturalstyle,itissaidtohavebeenestablishedintheTangDynasty(618-907).Butwhy,andhowsuchprecioustreasureswerestoredunderthepagoda.TracingbacktoamostflourishingtimeinChinesehistory,formerly,FamenTemplewastheroyaltempleduringtheSuiDynasty(581-618)andTangDynasty.EmperorsinSuiandTangbelievedthatenshriningandworshipingtheboneofSakyamuniwouldbringrichesandpeacetothelandanditspeople.Soanofferingoftreasuretothefingerbonewasmade,itwashousedintheUndergroundPalace.

　　Duetotheappropriatecollectionandfurtherexpoundingoftheculturalconnotationsofthetreasurestothepublic,theFamenTempleMuseumwasestablishedin1987,whichincludesmostoftheprecioustreasuresfromtheTangDynastyremovedfromUndergroundPalace,includinggoldandsilverware,coloredglazeware,porcelainandsilks.Owingtomoreandmoretouristsandtheircuriositytotherelics,twonewexhibitionhallswereestablishedin2000.Theexhibitionareaexpandedfrom500squaremetersto3,000squaremeters,whichwellcatersfortheinterestoftourists.

　　Nowadays,this,themostfamousBuddhisttemple,FamenTemple,playsasovereignroleinChinesereligion,andappealstotouristsfromallovertheworld.
