经过多年发展，内蒙古大学交通学院积累了丰富的办学经验，具备了良好的办学条件。学院设有道路工程、桥梁工程、汽车工程、交通运输工程、机械工程和工程管理6个学科方向，开办有土木工程、交通运输、机械工程及自动化和汽车服务工程4个本科专业和13个高职专业。学院拥有大批先进的教学科研设备和仪器，教学设施齐全，拥有建筑面积约40000平方米的综合实验楼，建有结构检测、力学、岩土、道路检测、建筑材料、勘测技术、汽车结构、汽车电子、汽车运用、T-TEP、公路工程造价、交通运输、工程机械、液压与气动、电工电子、工程机械控制技术等16个专业实验室和4个公共实验室，1个公路工程甲级试验检测中心，1个国家级职业技能鉴定所，1个占地700亩的综合实习实训基地。“十一五”期间，学院共投入2490万元资金用于教学科研仪器设备的购置，投入302万元资金用于图书资料的购置。

　　学院高度重视人才队伍建设，不断增强对高层次创新人才的吸引力，师资队伍素质、能力和水平不断提高。现有专任教师168人，其中正高级职称8人，副高级职称65人，教师中具有硕士及以上学历（学位）的69人（其中博士9人，硕士60人），“双师型”教师72人。现有4名全国交通职业教育教学带头人，1名教育部“交通职业教育教学指导委员会”委员，1名“全国汽车维修标准化技术委员会”委员，5名交通运输部“交通职业教育教学指导委员会专业指导委员会”委员，1人享受政府特殊津贴，9人受聘为自治区交通行业专家，13名内蒙古大学“513人才计划”第三层次人选。

　　注重人才培养质量是学院的优良传统，培养优质应用型人才、保障高就业率是学院近年的工作重心。“十一五”期间，学院共获得“教学质量工程”项目19项，有5个品牌专业，8门精品课程。截至2012年9月，学院有普通本科生1023人，高职生2403人，在校生总数3426人。近几年，学院毕业生一次就业率均在90%以上，2008年获得由中国青年报社评选的首届全国高等职业院校就业“星级示范校”，2012年本科生就业率达91.57%，高职生就业率达94.15%。
