ErnestHemingway,oneofthegreatestAmericanwritersin20thcentury,istherepresentativeof“lostgeneration”writer.HewasbornonJuly21,1899,inOakPark,Illinois.workedasareporteraftergraduatingfromhighschoolin1917.,amdservedasanambulancedriverintheItalianinfantryandwaswoundedjustbeforehis19thbirthday.Hospitalized,Hemingwayfellinlovewithanoldernurse.In1954,HemingwaywasawardedtheNobelPrizeforLiterature.Inhislife,Hemingwaymarriedfourtimesandwrotenumerousessays,shortstoriesandnovels.TheeffectsofHemingway'slifelongdepressions,illnessesandaccidentscaughtupwithhim.InJuly1961,hecommittedsuicideinKetchum,Idaho.
