　　MynameisChengGong.IwasborninChongqingonFeb.14,1980.Myfatherisaworkerinafacto,producingclothesandshoes.Mymotherisamiddleschoolteacher.Mybrotherownsasmallbookshopnearacollege.Mostofmyfamilymembershelphimrunthebookshopwhenwehavetime!

　　Attheageofthirteen,IcametoWanzhoutoattendasecondaryschool.Istayedwithmygrandmother.ForthefirsttimeIrealizedthatnowhereisbetterthanhome.Mygrandmother’shouseismuchlargerthanthatofoursandfurnishedwithmodernfurniture.However,Istillmissmyparents,brothersandsisters.

　　OnethingIlearnedinthosedays(ofleavingawayfrom)homealoneisthatallparentslovetheirchildrensomuchthattheyevensacrificetheirowntimetotakecareoftheirdearchildren.IhopeIwillbeabletotreatmyparentswellwhentheygrowold.

　　IowemyknowledgetomyteacherMissLinwhomademestudyhard,especiallyinEnglish.Duringthesummervacation,shegavemefreetutoringinherhouse.IlearnedtoreadEnglishnewspapersandmagazines,andthisopenedmyeyestoalotofinterestingthings.Iremembermyteacheroncesaidthat“thereisnoshortcutinlearninganything.”

　　Ialsolearntowritesimplelettersandexchangecorrespondencewithpenpalsinforeigncountries.SomeofthemevencametoWanzhoutoseeme.Wereadthoseletterstogetherandhadmuchfuntalkingtoeachother.Ishowedthemourhappylifeandwastoldabouttheirhomelands.Ibelievethatthisisagoodwaytopromotefriendshiponapeople-to-peoplebasis.

　　Ibegantoteachinaninstitutetwoyearsago,butIsoonfoundthatitwouldnotdomemuchgoodtocontinueteaching,becauseIhadlittlechancetolearnmoreaboutthewiderworld.Idon’tmindworkinghardeverydaybutIwanttolearnmoreandmeetmorepeople.
